Locations

Locations in AnimalOS is used to manage the housing of Animals and their current location in care. Locations work in a hierarchy to help identify where exactly is the Animal located.

  • Onsite Hierarchy: Site > Block > Unit

  • Foster Hierarchy: Site > Foster

  • Offsite Hierarchy: Offsite

Animals can be moved to different Locations using Movements.

Site

A shelter location for Animals managed by the internal organisation.

  • Shows a capacity report for the Location based on child Blocks and Units.

  • Contains the Shelter Email which can be used in workflow notifications directed to the shelter.

  • Contains address and location information which can be synced to the website or other public facing platforms.

Block

A sub location at a shelter used to define a grouping of Animals based on a defined space (eg. Kennels Row 1, The Kittery, The Stables).

  • Shows a capacity report for the Location based on child Units.

  • Contains a Manage Block Actions feature which allows Animal Attendants to manage Animals housed in the block.

  • Contains a Notes section to allow Animal Attendants to capture notes specific to the block.

Unit

A housing location for an Animal with a history of Movements which shows the current Animal housed at this location and Animals which have moved through this location.

Offsite

External sites where Animals can be moved but are still tracked by the internal organisation, like affiliated adoption partners (eg. PetBarn, Opp Shop).

Foster

The home of a Foster Carer where an Animal can be assigned for care.
