Movements
Overview
The Movements feature in AnimalOS enables effective tracking of an Animal's location and creates an audit trail of where the Animal has been. This includes units, foster care, and offsite locations.
🔹 Note: This feature is specifically for internal tracking. If an Animal is moved out of the organisation’s care, a Referral record is used instead.
1. Accessing the Movements Feature
To move an Animal, navigate to the Movements tab on the Animal record.
Use the Bulk Movements component to move one or multiple Animals at once.
This allows for quick updates to Animal locations while maintaining an audit history.
📌 Tip: Bulk Movements help streamline large-scale animal transfers, such as shifting multiple animals between different shelter units or foster care placements.
2. Moving an Animal
Open the Movements tab on the Animal record.
In the Bulk Movements section, select the Animal(s) to be moved.
Specify Location Information, including:
Site (e.g., Shelter, Foster, Offsite Location)
Block (if applicable)
Unit (if applicable)
Update the Stage & Status of the Animal if needed (e.g., from "In Care" to "Available for Adoption").
Click Move Animals to confirm.
📌 Tip: If a unit or location does not appear in the dropdown, it may be marked Unavailable. Contact a Supervisor to check the status.
3. Viewing Movement History
Each movement is recorded under the Movements section, providing a timeline of the Animal’s location history.
Movements are automatically logged whenever an Animal is transferred.
Records include start and end times, ensuring full traceability.
The Current checkbox indicates the Animal's present location.
📌 Tip: Reviewing movement history helps identify patterned relocations or long stays in certain units, aiding in shelter management.
4. Managing Large-Scale Transfers
The Bulk Movements tool is ideal for large-scale movements, such as:
Transferring animals between shelters.
Assigning animals to foster carers.
Moving multiple animals to medical units for check-ups.
Movements can be scheduled and batch-processed.
📌 Tip: Plan movements in advance to ensure that space and resources are available at the destination unit before transferring animals.
Summary
The Movements feature ensures that all animal location changes are accurately recorded, creating an efficient and auditable process for internal tracking. Use the Bulk Movements tool for efficient transfers, review the Movement history for traceability, and always ensure that location availability is confirmed before moving animals.
📌 Tip: Always verify movement details before finalising changes to maintain accuracy in the tracking records. 🐾
